This is hands-on work. You show up, figure out what’s wrong, fix it the right way, and the door works when you leave. That’s the job. No two houses are exactly alike, no two broken springs fail exactly the same way, and the satisfaction of a door that opens smoothly after an hour of focused work is something you either love or you don’t. If you love it, you’ll fit in well here. At Doyle Garage Door Repair, we’ve been doing this since 2001 as part of the Threshold Group family, and the people who stay longest are the ones who take the craft seriously and want a company that does the same.
Who We’re Looking For
- Field Technician (Experienced) – You know torsion springs from extension springs, you’ve swapped out LiftMaster and Genie openers more times than you can count, and you work clean and fast without cutting corners.
- Apprentice Technician – You’re mechanically confident, you learn by doing, and you want someone standing next to you who actually knows what they’re doing while you get your footing.
- Installer – New door installs, full replacements, framing adjustments – you’re precise, you read a level, and you don’t leave a job until the door sits right and the customer can see it.
- Dispatcher / Scheduler – You think in logistics: who’s closest, what parts are on the truck, how tight the window is. You’re calm under a busy morning and clear on the phone.
- Customer Service Representative – You’re the voice a nervous homeowner hears first. You listen well, explain clearly, and know when to get a technician on the line instead of guessing.
- Office / Operations Support – Estimates, job tracking, coordination between the field and the front desk – you keep the day from turning into a pile of missed calls and double-booked slots.
What We Offer
Real Training and a Path Forward
We don’t hand you a manual and wish you luck. Apprentices work alongside experienced technicians on real jobs, learning how Clopay panels align, why Wayne Dalton cable drums fail the way they do, and what the Threshold Standard looks like in practice, not just on paper. As your skills grow, your responsibilities do too – from apprentice to lead tech is a path people actually walk here, not a promise that gets forgotten after the first week.
Work You Can Be Proud Of
The way Doyle runs jobs matters to the people doing them. Every customer gets a written price before a bolt is turned. Every repair comes with a written guarantee. Every technician is background-checked, identity-verified, and arrives in a clean marked uniform. When you do your job well here, the structure of the company backs it up – you’re not being undercut by a colleague who quoted something off the cuff and disappeared. That consistency makes the work feel solid.
Local Crew, National Backbone
Each Doyle location is independently owned and operated, which means you’re working with a small crew that knows your market, your neighborhoods, and the kinds of doors people have around here. At the same time, you’re part of the Threshold Group family, with the training resources, brand reputation, and operational support that a 2001-founded national network brings. It’s a combination that not many garage door companies can offer.
Steady, Year-Round Demand
Garage doors break in January and in July. Springs don’t wait for slow seasons, and openers don’t care what day of the week it is. The work is consistent because the need is consistent – and because we operate across 28 states, there’s always activity somewhere in the network. Locally, our crews stay busy because we answer the phone with a live person every time, and that means we actually book the jobs that our competitors miss to voicemail.
No Experience? Read This.
If you’ve spent years doing HVAC, plumbing, auto mechanics, construction framing, or anything that required you to diagnose a problem and fix it with your hands, more transfers to this trade than you might think. Mechanical instinct, spatial awareness, comfort working in tight spaces, and the habit of checking your work before you call it done – those aren’t small things, and they’re not easy to teach.
What we teach: spring systems, cable and drum mechanics, panel alignment, opener programming across brands like LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, and Genie, and the Threshold Standard way of running a job from arrival to close. The first months are structured. You won’t be diagnosing a high-tension torsion spring system alone on day two – that work carries real risk and we take it seriously. You’ll shadow, assist, and build up to independent calls as your skills and confidence earn it. If you’re willing to learn steadily and work carefully, the experience gap closes faster than you’d expect.
How to Apply
Call us at (910) 858-8029 or use the contact form below. Let us know where you’re based, what kind of work you’ve done before (garage doors or otherwise), and when you’re available to start. Hiring happens locally – the team that reviews your application will be the crew at the Doyle location nearest you. There’s no national HR filter between you and the people you’d actually be working with.
